Introduction
With the help of Max’s mum, Leanne, and the help of local medical supplier, Reflex Medical, we developed our own community bleed kits. These being affordable and accessible to all to help prevent more senseless deaths. They are designed to fit in a car glove box, or sports kit bag, and always be on hand.
They contain the essentials when dealing with severe bleeding in an easy to access and use pouch. They can be used for all types of medical emergency such as industrial accidents and road traffic collisions, not just for victims of violence. The kit is easy to use and also has a QR code on the front to assist with using any of the equipment inside.
In conjunction with the bleed kit, we also offer knife crime prevention training with The Blunt Truth and essential bleed kit awareness training. The aim being that we wish to eradicate the need for our children to carry knives, but if they unfortunately do become involved in an incident, they are able to act and hopefully save a life.
We deliver this training through age specific sessions at the club. All club members are welcome to undertake this training. The training is designed to replace a normal football training session and runs for approx. one hour. During this time the participants undertake The Blunt Truth training delivered by professional staff from Avon and Somerset Constabulary. This is delivered via a short video detailing a knife crime incident. This is then followed with group discussions, focussing on why not to carry knives, how the violence of knife crime can impact families and communities. This is then followed by basic first aid training, detailing what to do should the participants find themselves involved in such an incident. This is delivered by health care professionals from across a broad spectrum.
We are also able to offer practical sessions where, if at a suitable age, participants can get hands on and learn to use the equipment in the bleed kits we provide.
We are also able to offer “coaches training”- this is when we take the coaches or adults through the package, so they are in a position to assist in the delivery and answer any subsequent questions that the youths may have.
We are also able to offer this training to anyone who has youths that they think will benefit from it. We are able to tailor training to most situations, simply email us and we will do our best to help.
